THE FINE PRINT: PRIVACY POLICY
Were You Raised By Wolves?® Last updated: August 30, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information PARAVION, Inc. ("we," "us," or "our") collects when you visit our websites, including wereyouraisedbywolves.com and shop.wereyouraisedbywolves.com (together, the "Sites"), make a purchase through them, or otherwise interact with us or the Were You Raised By Wolves?® podcast (the "show"), and how we use and share that information.
Our Terms of Use, including the Listener Submissions terms that apply to questions, stories, and other material you submit to the show, are also posted on this store.
INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE TO US
We collect personal information when you choose to provide it to us, such as when you:
- Purchase products from our store (name, email address, shipping and billing address, phone number, and your order history);
- Create a customer account on our store (your contact information and the details saved to your account);
- Sign up for our email list;
- Enter a contest or promotion, or respond to a survey;
- Contact us for customer service or other questions (the contents of those communications).
Show submissions. If you submit a question, story, or other material to the show by email, text message, voicemail, mail, or social media, we receive the content of your submission (which may include recordings, photos, your social media username, and information about you and other people) along with contact details such as your email address or phone number. The content of your submission is governed by the Listener Submissions section of our Terms of Use and may be used on the podcast and otherwise as described there; personal information we collect in connection with your submission, such as your email address or phone number, is handled as described in this Privacy Policy.
Membership platforms. If you support the show through a membership platform such as Patreon, we receive certain information from that platform, such as your name, email address, and mailing address, which we use to provide membership benefits and to send you communications such as our email newsletter.
Payment information. Purchases are processed by our e-commerce platform and its payment processors. Your payment card details are transmitted directly to the payment processor over an encrypted connection and are handled in accordance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). We do not receive or store your full payment card number.
INFORMATION COLLECTED AUTOMATICALLY
When you visit the Sites, we and our service providers automatically collect certain information, including your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the date, time, and duration of your visit, referring pages, and general location (such as city or region) derived from your IP address. We use this information to operate, secure, and improve the Sites and to understand how visitors use them.
Cookies and similar technologies. The Sites use cookies (small text files stored on your device) and similar technologies. These fall into four general categories: strictly necessary cookies (such as those that operate the shopping cart, checkout, and security features), preference cookies (which remember your settings), analytics cookies, and advertising cookies (described below). You can control cookies through your browser settings and, where available, through the cookie preferences banner shown on our Sites. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent features such as checkout from working.
Analytics. Our online store uses Google Analytics to help us understand how visitors use it, and we may use similar analytics services on our other Sites. You can learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services at google.com/policies/privacy/partners, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser opt-out add-on.
Advertising pixels. The Sites use the Meta (Facebook) pixel, which may share information about your visit with Meta and could be used to show you ads on Meta platforms. You can manage how Meta uses this data in your Facebook or Instagram ad preferences. You can learn more about interest-based advertising, and opt out from participating companies, at aboutads.info and networkadvertising.org.
Email measurement. Emails we send may contain small tracking images or links that tell us whether an email was delivered, opened, or clicked. We use this to understand what our subscribers find useful. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in any email.
HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use the information we collect to:
- Process and fulfill your orders, provide membership benefits, and provide customer service;
- Send you our email newsletter and other communications you have signed up for;
- Respond to your questions and submissions, including contacting you about a submission;
- Administer contests, promotions, and surveys;
- Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Sites;
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
HOW WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION
We do not sell your personal information for money. Some state privacy laws define "sale" or "sharing" broadly enough to include certain disclosures through advertising cookies, pixels, and similar technologies like those described above; you can limit those technologies using the cookie controls and opt-out tools described in this policy. Beyond that, we share personal information only as follows:
- Service providers. We share information with companies that provide services on our behalf, such as e-commerce hosting, payment processing, order fulfillment and shipping, email delivery, website hosting, security, and content delivery. These providers may use your information only to provide services to us, subject to contractual protections.
- Analytics and advertising partners. The analytics and advertising technologies described above (such as Google Analytics and the Meta pixel) transmit information about your visit to the companies that operate them. Those companies may use that information for their own purposes, such as ad measurement and improving their services, as described in their own privacy policies, and are not limited to acting on our behalf.
- Legal reasons. We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation, subpoena, or other legal process; to enforce our Terms of Use; to detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of PARAVION, Inc., our customers, or the public.
- Business transfers. If all or part of our business is sold, merged, or otherwise transferred, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. It would remain subject to the promises made in the then-current privacy policy unless you agree otherwise or applicable law permits otherwise.
- With your consent. We may share information for other purposes when you ask us to or give us your consent.
Aggregated or de-identified information that does not identify you (for example, overall survey results or audience statistics) may be used and shared for any purpose.
OUR E-COMMERCE PLATFORM
Our store is hosted by Shopify, which collects and processes information about your visits and purchases in order to provide and improve the store. We also use certain Shopify enhanced features that draw on data from your interactions with our store, other merchants, and Shopify. For those features, Shopify is responsible for the processing of your personal information, including responding to requests to exercise your rights over that processing. You can learn how Shopify uses personal information in the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy and exercise rights over Shopify's processing at the Shopify Privacy Portal.
PODCAST DELIVERY AND ADVERTISING
Episodes of the show are hosted and delivered by our podcast hosting provider, ART19. When you download or stream an episode through any app or platform, ART19 automatically receives information from your device, such as your IP address, device and player type, and listening activity, which it uses to deliver episodes, measure listening, and insert advertising, including ads that may be selected based on that information. ART19 is responsible for its processing of this information. You can learn more, including about ART19's state-specific privacy disclosures and advertising opt-outs, in the ART19 Privacy Notice.
THIRD-PARTY SERVICES AND LINKS
The Sites link to third-party services we do not control, including Patreon (memberships), podcast platforms, and social media. Information you provide directly to those services is governed by their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to read. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites or services.
TEXT MESSAGING
If you text us (for example, to submit a question to the show), we will receive your phone number and the content of your message, and we may reply. Message and data rates may apply. We do not send recurring marketing texts. If you ever receive unwanted texts from us, reply STOP or contact us and we will stop. We do not share your phone number with third parties for their own marketing; we share it only with vendors that help us send and receive messages.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The Sites are intended for a general audience and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, please contact us at hello@wereyouraisedbywolves.com and we will delete it.
You must have reached the age of majority where you live (18 in most places) to make purchases on the Sites or to submit material to the show. A parent or guardian must submit on behalf of any minor.
CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS
Minors. If you are a California resident under 18 and material you posted or submitted appears on the Sites, you may request its removal by emailing hello@wereyouraisedbywolves.com with the subject line "California Removal Request." We will make good-faith efforts to remove the material, but removal may not be complete or comprehensive (for example, where the content has been republished by others or where the law requires us to retain it).
Shine the Light. California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits California residents to request certain information about disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes in circumstances that require disclosure under Section 1798.83; our use of advertising cookies and pixels is described above. If you have questions, email hello@wereyouraisedbywolves.com with the subject line "California Privacy Request."
VISITORS FROM THE EEA AND UK
We are based in the United States, and your personal information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate, where data protection laws may differ from those where you live. Where required by applicable law, we rely on recognized mechanisms for these transfers, such as adequacy decisions, approved contractual safeguards, or applicable statutory exceptions. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal information: to perform a contract with you (for example, fulfilling an order); for our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the Sites and the show; with your consent (for example, for marketing emails, which you may withdraw at any time); and to comply with legal obligations. You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@wereyouraisedbywolves.com. For the purposes of applicable data protection laws, PARAVION, Inc. is the controller of the personal information described in this policy, except where this policy says otherwise (such as Shopify's own processing described above).
DO NOT TRACK AND OPT-OUT SIGNALS
Some browsers and extensions transmit "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals. Our online store honors GPC signals for visitors in regions where a data sale or sharing opt-out applies, and offers those visitors an opt-out form. You can learn more about GPC at globalprivacycontrol.org. The Sites do not otherwise respond to Do Not Track signals. You can also limit tracking at any time using the cookie controls and opt-out tools described above.
YOUR CHOICES; ACCESS, CORRECTION, AND DELETION
You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in any email. If you have a customer account, you can review and update your account information by signing in. For any other request to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, email hello@wereyouraisedbywolves.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights. We will make reasonable efforts to honor your request, subject to legal requirements and legitimate business needs (for example, records we must keep for tax or accounting purposes). Deletion of personal information does not extend to material used in podcast episodes or other published content, which is governed by our Terms of Use, and complete deletion from backups and archives may not be possible.
DATA RETENTION
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, to comply with legal obligations (such as tax and accounting requirements for order records), and to resolve disputes. If you unsubscribe from marketing emails, we keep your email address on a suppression list so we do not email you again. Questions, stories, and other material submitted to the show, and episodes and other content incorporating them, may be retained indefinitely as part of the show's archive, as described in our Terms of Use.
SECURITY
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, and our store transactions occur over encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, or legal requirements. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it was last revised. If we make material changes, we will post a prominent notice on the Sites or notify you by email before the changes take effect, and where required by law we will obtain your consent.
